CASE STUDIES - CASTLE HILL COUNTRY CLUB To bring Castle Hill Golf Course into line with the Group One courses in Sydney , a Masterplan (NGS) was prepared to enable gradual implementation of a new design minimising interference to member play. The clay subsoil has required that extensive sub-surface drainage be installed and proper attention be paid to surface drainage. The greens are drained using an aggregate layer over pipes and beneath a sandy profile. Construction of bunkers to produce natural lines was difficult because of clay but the result has been universally praised.
