CASE STUDIES - KOOYONGA GOLF CLUB
Kooyonga has for many years been amongst the top echelon of Australia’s golf courses. However, the ever increasing distance the ball travels has meant that now many of the hazards are out of place and openings to the greens and their general contouring are inappropriate.
A process of gradually moving through the course to address any weaknesses began early in 1998 and now ten greens and various other features have been dealt with.
Safety was a major concern in our assessment of the course. The new 15th is a result of former boundary problems. Approximately 7,500 cubic metres of sand was moved to create the new green and surrounds approximately 30 metres to the right of the existing.
